CAC 40

The CAC 40 (Cotation Assistee en Continu) is the benchmark French stock market index.

The index is used as the capitalization of the 40 most significant companies on the Euronext Paris and is one of the main indices in Europe.

With a value of 1,000 it started on 31 December 1987.

The CAC 40 reached it’s highest value of 6,944.77 on 4th September 2000.

Some of the companies listed in the CAC 40 index include;

A large amount of the listed shares are owned by foreign investors, and mainly is due to a lot of the companies being international and multinational
